Android Studio Dolphin: Automotive Intel x86 Atom System Image Not Showing

If you're using Android Studio Dolphin, you may have noticed that the Automotive Intel x86 Atom system image is not showing in the AVD manager. This is a known issue that is currently being investigated by the Android Studio team.

In the meantime, there are a few workarounds that you can try:

  • Update to the latest version of Android Studio. The latest version of Android Studio may have fixed the issue.
  • Create a new AVD. When you create a new AVD, you can select the Automotive Intel x86 Atom system image from the list of available images.
  • Download the system image manually. You can download the Automotive Intel x86 Atom system image from the Android Developers website and then manually add it to your AVD.

Once you have tried one of these workarounds, you should be able to use the Automotive Intel x86 Atom system image in Android Studio Dolphin.

Android Studio Hedgehog | 2023.1.1 Patch 1 includes the "Automotive (1080p landscape)" device config for Automotive. You can also download the Android Automotive TM emulator system image for x86_64 and arm64.

You can now download the Android Automotive API level 33 (Android 13) system image from the stable version of Android Studio. However, you cannot create an AVD using the existing default Automotive hardware config. To resolve this issue, clone the device of "Automotive (1024p landscape)" and select "Android Automotive" from the cloned device type.
